Speech Outline
Hook: Have you ever thought a drink would bring you closer and give you some of your "best buds"? Think back to the last time you had a drink and what actions you made.
Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7p_3lITiK_Q
Purpose: The purpose of this video, is too show that Budweiser is supposed to bring you closer to people, instead of making the wrong decisions when drinking.
Thesis: Budweiser created this commercial so you could see the effect of getting out there and actually take the time to make new friends; people you thought you would never become friends with.
Details:
Audience: The audience is anyone who drinks Budweiser. Budweiser wants to persuade people to drink their product because they believe it gives you "best buds."
Characters: The characters in the show are people who are dressed normally just like every other person. The other characters are animals. They use a dog and a horse, to show the diversity of what can happen if you are willing to expand your friendships and become friends with people you wouldn't even think of.
Setting: Relating to the characters, the setting is on a farm. Budweiser chose a farm because they believe that everyday people can easily relate to that and they want to show the diversity of where the animals come from.
Effectiveness: Budweiser made a very effective commercial. They were able to incorporate the feel of everyday people, by dressing them in casual clothes, and the feel of diversity between friends, by using a horse and a dog.
Closing Hook: Reflecting on this commercial, the purpose was to make people feel like they could make friends in any situation and any type of friend that they wanted to. Budweiser wanted to make it known that they're commercial would be effective. Meaning, yes, you can make friends without drinking it, but drinking Budweiser gives you your "best buds."

Commercial Analysis - Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7p_3lITiK_Q
For my speech, I picked a super
bowl commercial by Budweiser. I picked this commercial, because looking at the
rhetoric triangle, the purpose of this commercial is too play on the feelings
of the audience. They use a dog who gets loose and sneaks into a barn and
befriends a horse. The owner of the barn finds the dog and takes him back to
his owner; only for him to escape the next day and do the same thing. He tries
for several days trying to get back to the horse, but eventually they take the
dog, put him in a car, and drive away. The horse becomes sad and jumps the fence along with other
horses, the driver looks in his rear view mirror seeing the horses running
after him, and then looks forward to find horses waiting in front of him. The
driver stops the car, and lets the dog leave with the horses. Th dog and the
horses are then seen running back to the barn, where the owner of the barn
picks him up and keeps him. The commercial then ends with the horse and the dog
playing in the yard, and Budweiser's logo pops up "#Best Buds… Drink
Responsibly." The commercial uses pathos to play on the sadness of the dog
and the horse from being separated, and then at the end they connect that to
Budweiser. They want you to know that Budweiser brings you closer, gives you
new friends, and then those friends eventually become your #BestBuds.

Unit 1 Reflection
1.
I think one of the most challenging parts of the
assignment was finding the academic and non-academic sources. You had to make
sure they were credible and that they were what you wanted to use. Another challenging
part was finding someone in your field of study to interview.
2. I think the most useful thing to help us prepare for the writing assignment was reviewing sample papers. I think one of the least useful things was maybe outlining the paper.
